Chapter Ride - Overnight - Rhode Island

Our adventures this weekend will take us to Newport RI. To see some of the awesome old architecture and furniture of the mansions that scatter the Newport area.

 

Friday April 30 – We will depart the Petro Truck stop in Bordentown at 9:30 am (if you want breakfast come early). We will proceed up the NJTP north continuing north on Rt 95n to Connecticut exit 92 at which point we will use Rt 78 an Rt 1 for a nice little ride along the ocean. We will then take Rt 138 into Newport for dinner and our hotel http://www.ascendcollection.com/hotel-middletown-rhode_island-RI023   401-841-0018 we have King and Queen rooms blocked here. Tell them you are with Goldwing bike club and your rate will be 88.99 plus tax. You must book by  March 30, 2010 in order to get this rate. NOTE: We will be using this hotel for Friday and Saturday night be sure to book for both. They do have continental breakfast.  We should arrive at approximately 3:30pm (approx.240 miles). Based on the opinion of the group we may go visit one of the mansions before dinner.

 

 

Saturday May 1 – After breakfast we will proceed to visit the mansions and attractions of the Newport area. Due to the large amount of attractions in Newport , I would suggest that everyone check out the area and see if there is a particular place you would like to see. Then we can make a group decision at a later time. Here are some links to look at.

  I think our last visit of the day,  before we do dinner should be to the Newport Vineyard for a little wine tasting at about 4pm (they close at 5). http://www.newportvineyards.com/  

 

Sunday May 2 – We will leave our hotel after breakfast at approximately 9:00 am for the ride home. We will take Rt 114n to Rt 195n to Rt 95s. We should arrive back in Bordentown at approximately 3:30pm (approx.240 miles)
