Today we are headed to the Battleship NJ (100 Clinton Street, Camden, NJ 19103) for a picnic with all our friends. We will be riding in as a group and parking will be in front of the Battleship.
This is America's most decorated Battleship and is now the area's most exciting museum. From the moment you step across the ship's brow you will understand that this is a museum where visitors take an active role. From strolling across forecastle to climbing the original ladders up to the bridge, and beyond, each step in your journey brings you closer to understanding what life was like for a sailor on the Battleship New Jersey. There is still time to sign up for our 2nd NJ District Picnic Aboard the Battleship NJ. Our wreath tossing ceremony will honor our fallen GWRRA Members and Military plus a Tribute to 9/11 Police and Fireman. Last year’s event was completely sold out and a huge success.
This year the cost is only $10.00 for GWRRA Members & $12.00 for non-members with motorcycle parking along the front of the ship & escorted tours. There will be food vendors, a flight simulator and the gift shop available for your convenience.
Because there has been such a strong response to our NJ District Picnic aboard the Fantail of the Battleship New Jersey from our GWRRA Region B Members, we have secured 30 rooms at the Crowne Plaza Hotel & Resort (2349 W. MARLTON PIKE CHERRY HILL, NJ 08002). The discounted daily rate of $99.00 plus tax will be available for Saturday, 8/29/09 & Sunday, 8/30/09 in case anybody wanted to make a long weekend out of the event. All reservations must be made individually through the Hotel’s Reservation Department by calling 1-877-898-1090 and asking for the Gold Wing Road Riders Association event. Individuals must identify themselves as attending this specific program to receive the correct contracted rates. Pre-payment of one night’s room and tax will be required to guarantee all reservations.
Not staying over? Meet up with us at the Crown Plaza in Cherry Hill at 7:30. After a short pre-ride meeting the group will be departing the parking lot at 8 am sharp for an escorted ride to the Battleship.
